And also i think that a discussion thread for all discussion would be nice. It keeps the entries thread neater.
I see no reason to add an extra discussion thread, since I update the first post of the entries thread with all current entries. There would just be too many threads for each SotW.
C&C for pieces should still be primarily in the Gallery. Any discussion here should focus on questions about the actual competition, not the entries.

Yes; the point of the SotW contest is to design a piece based on the topic. Topic then design. Reusing a piece is going the opposite way and is much less challenging.
Okay I hadn't really planned to, but I figured I'd ask anyways, because I had a phase where pretty much all i made was music sigs.
My humble entry:
I decided I would try something new, and I'd never made a sprite sig before.
For any of you wondering, that sprite IS from Pokemon, I couldn't find any other guitarist sprite to use.

The rest of the playing field should never discourage you from entering an open contest. You learn a lot more by throwing your hat in the ring than by sitting in the stands.
EDIT: Also, moving forward (meaning starting next week), all submissions to the official contest thread are final submissions. If you would like to have people critique your work so you can change it before submitting, post it in the Gallery first.
This week I'll allow changes to be made, since it wasn't yet stated in the rules.
