applying for Citizenship for my mother who is 75+ (25th May 18 at 11:28am UTC)
Hello

My mother is greencard holder for 5yrs and now I am planning to apply for her citizenship, all seems fine except the requirement to read/write English. I am preparing her N-400 application, and I read the requirements and exceptions. My mother knows only the native language. Can she have interpretor / test in the native language?

Thanks in advance!!

This is from the N-400 application form from the USCIS website: 13. Exemptions from the English Language Test A. Are you 50 years of age or older and have you lived in the United States as a lawful permanent resident for periods totaling at least 20 years at the time you file your form N-400? B. Are you 55 years of age or older and have you lived in the United States as a lawful permanent resident for periods totaling at least 15 years at the time you file your Form N-400? C. Are you 65 years of age or older and have you lived in the United States as a lawful permanent resident for periods totaling at least 20 years at the time you file your Form N-400 and Form I-751 Petition to Remove Conditions on Residence ? (If you meet this requirement, you will also be given a simplified version of the civics test.) - Since your mom has been only PR for 5 years, not sure any exemption would apply for her.
